From beginning to end Dreamhunter reads like a true glimpse into history. It has more action and will answer most of your burning questions about the Place. I would even say the second book is better.

The characters are memorable especially the adultsand the political intrigue is just that—intriguing. It was slow and I never found myself not being able to put it knx. She stroked and pressed his hand as if in search of a secret mechanism that would make it open up, or turn into something other than itself. It’s still a good dessert, but it’s the crescendo you were hoping for.
There was a serious problem with under developed characters.
Giver mixed with Time Traveler’s Wife but for kids. Knox manages to make Laura both strong drwamhunter vulnerable in turn with equal honesty. Fifteen-year-old cousins Laura Hame and Rose Tiebold both come from famous dreamhunting families, but only Laura proves to be blessed with the gift and once inside The Place she finds out what happened to her missing dreamhunter father and reveals how the government has used dreams to control an ever-growing population of convicts and political dissenters.

Is it significant that he is made in The Inox and yet there are hints his past constructs may have taken place in the real world? The ending itself is exciting and concludes the book nicely on a big event while leaving plenty of anticipation for the next book.
